Here are the latest things I believe in & live by.
Maximize yourself - “It’s a shame for man to grow old without seeing the beauty & strength of which his body is capable” / “We must stretch ourselves to the very limits of human possibility. Anything less is a sin against God and man” / “Your worst sin is that you have destroyed & betrayed yourself for nothing” / “If anything is worth doing, its worth doing in excess”
Abundance Mindset - There’s enough pie for everyone; enough growth, money, fame, successes for all - life is not a zero sum game
Memento Mori - Reflect on your mortality to prioritize what truly matters and live with purpose and urgency
Eternal Recurrence - It’s a call to live authentically, making choices you’d be willing to relive forever, even if your life repeats the same eternally
Have high agency - You are in control of whatever you choose to do. “No one can build you the bridge on which you, and only you, must cross the river of life” / “I must change my life so that I can live it, not wait for it” / “Only the timid and weak leave things to destiny”
Use leverage - Only way to do more with less - money, AI, people are forms of leverage
You are only entitled to the action, never to its fruits
Don’t compete with others - Don’t be distracted by others, work on yourself
Opposite of success is mediocrity not failure
Live a virtuous life - Live a life full of virtues - wisdom, courage, justice, and temperance, etc.; strive for greatness & stick to your principles
Be curious - A curious person learns more & is less swayed from narratives, have a malleable mind
Out work everyone & work smart - No substitute to the grind, but do it smartly
Manifest - Neuroplasticity is real, you get what you believe yourself to be worthy of
Be an optimist - Believe unconditionally in the right things & have hope
Be delusional - Only way you can achieve what you want - however big or great
Assume nothing - We are born in world full of assumptions and taught to think with constraints. Don’t let imaginary walls blind & bind you
Prepare & be efficient - “If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend six sharpening my axe” / “When fishermen cannot go to sea, they repair nets”
Know thyself - When emotional, ask yourself, why does it bother you. Knowing why do you feel something is the first step to emotional resilience
Embrace adversity - View challenges as opportunities to grow and practice resilience
Get lucky once, and then once again and then again - It’s a game of chance, take your best shots and some will land, and some will land in a big way
Use the magic words - thank you & sorry - Takes very little from you, means everything to them
Focus what you can control - Accept what you can’t change and focus on what you can. Strive for inner calm, regardless of external circumstances
Don’t be distracted by easy wins - Mind is smart at convincing you have won when you haven’t, stick to longer term plan
Be addicted to the right things - “Addiction is a hierarchy issue” - having the right addictions is the cure to not having the bad ones
Start again - “There’s no tragedy in having to start again, as long as you start again”
If you want to fly, give up everything that weighs you down
Be the change that you wish to see in the world - Leave the world the way you’d want it to be in the first place
Pressure makes a man - Diamonds are formed from coal under pressure, thrive in in it and be antifragile
Lastly - You are what you do - it’s not what you believe or follow, its what you do that makes you - you
